Training Programs

We offer these training programs:

Service Dogs (SEE below "SERVICE DOG TRAINING" for the types of Service Dog training programs), Hearing Dogs for the hearing-impaired, Guide Dogs for the vision-impaired, Combination Assistance/Service Dogs,

Emotional Support Dogs, Therapy Dogs (SEE below "THERAPY DOG TRAINING" for the types of Therapy Dog training programs), and Basic to Advanced Obedience.

With the exception of our individual Obedience Training Programs, all other programs will require a completed application accompanied by the non-refundable application fee of $150 that will be deducted from the total program cost IF you and your dog are approved (by Ambassador Assistance K-9s International (AAKI) at AAKI's sole discretion) for acceptance into one of our training programs. Such approval is not guaranteed and the $150 application fee is non-refundable no exceptions.  Contact us for details or to apply!

Additionally, and with the exception of our individual Obedience Training Programs (which are packaged in 4-week training sessions), all other programs range in duration from not less than 6 months to no more than 2 years  (depending upon age and behavioral aspects of the dog, type of dog-partner training program, and handler needs and abilities).  These other specialized dog-partner training programs all feature:  Beginner to Advanced Dog Obedience, Beginner to Advanced Handler Training, Dog Laws & Handler Responsibilities, Veterinarian & Homecare Protocols and Standards, Dog Learning Theory, Understanding Force-Free Positive Reinforcement (R+) Training Methods and for the Service and Assistance Dog-Partner Training Programs, Introduction to the Americans with Disabilities Act, The Air Carrier Act, The Fair Housing Act.

Also, specialized tasks & work training relevant to handler/owner disability-related needs is completed throughout these programs as well as public access training. Moreover, handler-owners and dogs must successfully complete our final assessments with a minimum score of 90%. Final tests include: Advanced Obedience & Handler Skills, Public Access Handling & Dog Behavior Management, Dog Laws, Federal Public Access Laws, Specialized Work & Tasks.

Our unique and sustainable approach to dog-partner training allows dog owner/handlers to learn and participate in the training process, allowing them to be well-versed as responsible dog-partners in order to be well-able to train their next Service & Assistance Dogs themselves.

To decide if we are a good match for working with you and your dog within any of our training programs, completing our individualized behavior evaluation of your dog (if you already have one), and of your relationship with your dog is required at your expense. If your application is approved (for Service Dog, Assistance Dog, Therapy Dog, or Emotional Support Dog training programs), this non-refundable $150 fee will be deducted from the total program cost! For Obedience Training Programs, this non-refundable evaluation fee is in addition to program cost.

We guide your dog selection (if you do not already have one) based on how you characterize your desired dog-partnership.

More About

We at Ambassador Assistance K9s International (AAKI) bring humane & highly effective, force-free, pain-free,  positive reinforcement professional dog-partner training to your home (in-person or via the internet or email) because the home-environment is where relationship-building with your dog begins.

We have trained a variety of Dog-Partnerships for individuals, families, and medical, counseling and therapy professionals for more than 30 years, and in 2015, we decided to form Ambassador Assistance K9s International, LLC (formerly known as Ambassador Assistance Animals International), branding our training programs as "Working dogs changing lives" and "the human-to-animal-bond."

We are NOT non-profit because we believe that your first responsibility is to invest in relationship-building with your dog, and because we believe that non-profit status could potentially significantly limit our ability to choose to assist you in developing civil rights self-advocacy strategies relative to your access rights when accompanied by a Service Dog, Assistance Dog, or an Emotional Support Dog.

ONLY officially accepted AAKI Dog-Partner Training Program clients may be considered by AAKI at AAKI's sole option and sole discretion for assistance in developing civil rights self-advocacy strategies relative to your access rights when accompanied by your Service Dog, Assistance Dog, or Emotional Support Dog.

ONLY Service Dogs & Assistance Dogs (see our "Home Page" usage of these terms) are protected by YOUR civil right (covered by The Americans with Disabilities Act) to access public accommodations & public transportation when accompanied by these specific types of dog-partners.

Public accommodations examples include but are not limited to: hotels & motels, grocery stores, shopping malls, restaurants, libraries. Public transportation examples include but are not limited to: taxis, buses, trains (see airlines below).  Emotional Support Dogs & Therapy Dogs (also Companion-Family Dogs) are NOT Service or Assistance Dogs, and therefore, they are NOT covered under YOUR access rights to public accommodations & public transportation!

The Air Carrier Act (pertaining to airline access rights) is the U.S. Federal Law granting access rights to individuals accompanied by Service Dogs, Assistance Dogs, AND Emotional Support Dogs.

U.S. Federal & State-level housing access rights are addressed in the Fair Housing Act and also by each state's specific Fair Housing laws, respectively. Service Dogs, Assistance Dogs, AND Emotional Support Dogs are granted access rights subject to Fair Housing laws.
